Tape-in Extensions… different type and right quantity you need!

Among the semi-permanent hair extensions now available on the market, double-sided tape hair extensions are one of the most popular methods .
Thin, fast to apply and also re-usable, an advantage for the customer and the hair salon.
But did you know that there are two types of adhesive extensions?

the ” traditional ” adhesive extensions, suitable for the majority of lengthenings.

Evolution double-sided tape extensions, designed to create almost invisible lengthening for a more natural look.

Looking at the picture you can notice that with Evolution tape extensions, instead of those traditional, the silicone strip is hidden.
The hair are in fact plugged directly into the silicon, hiding it and simulating perfectly an “hair growth effect”.
The Fair Fashion brand is the only one that offers this new and revolutionary type of adhesive extension ( the product name is EVOLUTION TAPE EXTENSION) which joins the traditional adhesive locks ( the product name is TAPE EXTENSION).

NB: in this article we will nameTape Extensions strands as Standard Tape Extensions, to easily distinguish them from the Evolution Tape Extension ones.

To achieve a more natural look we recommend to combine TAPE EXTENSION STANDARD with EVOLUTION TAPE EXTENSION.

Where

In exposed areas such as temples and the head crown.
Areas where the hair can easily part and show the locks applied.
Are also suitable in all those cases where the customer hair are particularly thin or thinned-out. Thanks to their innovative structure, the Evolution strands will completely merge with the customer hair.

How

The double-sided tape extensions, as we know, have to be applied in pairs.
In this case the application is combined:

Tape Extension Standard = BELOW
Evolution Tape Extension = ABOVE

Let’s see in greater detail how to do:

In the upper part of the head (along the last hair section that we create during the application) take a small hair section of the same width of the strand to be applied, using the tail end of the comb.
- apply the Tape extensions under the hair. Be careful not to touch the adhesive with your fingers.Keep the distance between the strand and the scalp: about 1cm.
- Carefully apply the evolution strand on top of the previous one so that the two adhesive overlap perfectly. The hair section has to be thin, clear and precise.

Apply other combined strands to complete all the top of the head.
Do the same on the temple area

NB: in case of particularly exposed areas it is recommended to cut in half the strands to achieve a more natural look.

To maintain the locks intact and avoid to tear off or remove some hair, gently take off Evolution Tape extensions, do not pull hard.

How many strands have i to apply?

The extensions quantity required to achieve a complete lengthening depends on:

the customer hair quantity ( thickness )
the customer hair length
the desired result

Here below you will find summarized some combinations to understand the quantity and which adhesive strand type to use.
Our solution is to apply Tape extension standard for the back and the hidden parts and to combine with Evolution Tape Extension for the most visible areas ( temples and the head crown.) We will also specify the packages quantity referring to our brand Fair Fashion:

Tape extension Standard : 12 strands per package
Evolution Tape Extension : 12 strands per package

*NB: for application we mean 2 strands applied together.

In this article:

for ” standard applications ” we mean pairs of Tape Extension Standard
for ” combined applications ” we mean pairs of 1 lock of Tape extension Standard (in the lower part) and 1 lock of Evolution Tape extension ( ABOVE ).

Light density

We recommend 18 applications
6 standard applications and 12 combined applications (Then 2 packages of Standard Tape Extensions and 1 pack of Evolution Extension Tape)

Medium density

We recommend 24 applications
2 standard applications and 12 combined applications (So 3 packages of standard Tape Extension and 1 pack of Evolution Tape Extension).

If the customer has a quite thick head or very short hair, you may need to add some applications more for a perfect result.

Heavy density

We recommend 30 applications
18 standard applications and 12 combined applications (Then 4 packs of Standard Tape Extension and 1 pack of Evolution Extension Tape).

Hair tuft

usually 3/6 applications are sufficient, based on the hair quantity to be applied.

Hair thickening

The adhesive extensions can also be used to thicken the head in case of thinning or fine hair. Generally it takes between 50 to 70 grams.
Even in these cases the use of Evolution Tape Extension will get very natural results because they are invisible, an important feature in case of thinning hair or fine hair .

We recommend 12 combined applications (Then 12 Standard Tape Extensions and 12 Evolution Tape Extension).
