PRE-BONDED HAIR EXTENSIONS
How can we define an hair extension service? Certainly not as a simple lengthening service! It is a real creation able to transform and improve the person image.
As hair stylist you must try to transfer an emotional value that last over time.
Is the only way to carry economic and advertising benefits.
To obtain customers loyalty you must have an adequate expertise level and professionalism.
Train your self as much as possible to offer an high level service and do not ignore the use of high quality materials (first of all the hair): even if are more expensive you’ll obtain perfect creations and fully satisfy the customer.
The pre-bonded extensions application, as you know, is a fine art that requires great expertise in each single service phase: from initial consulting to post-application treatment until the removal of the locks.
Here is a complete guide, enriched with tips and “tricks of the trade” to realize perfect lengths.
Extension… yes or not?
Through an exclusive and personalized consulting you can meet the customer wishes and needs and propose a solution that will improve her appearance, creating a new and balanced figure.
A correct analysis of the hair initial characteristics will allow you to apply the right kind of lengths.
Is essential to observe the details and carefully consider the cases where the service is not appropriate.
For example when the hair are more than 10-12 centimetres shorter or brittle, usually due to overly aggressive chemical treatments such as bleaching or permanent.
If the hair is too weakened could not support the weight of the applied strands and may break.
In this case, we should wait for the hair to recover and become stronger(about 5-6 months).
Extensions length choice:
To achieve a perfect extension is important to create a balance between the natural length of the customer and the locks applied.
Is not recommended to apply 40-50-60 cm long extensions on 10 cm long hair.
Working with lower length extensions of you’ll get a much more balanced effect.
For example if the customer has a hair length of:
• 10/15cm – apply strands of 30/35 or 40/45 cm.
• 20/25cm – apply strands of 40/45 or 50/55 cm.
• 30/35cm – apply strands of 50/55 or 60/65 cm.
Choose the extension quantity:
You have to create a right balance between the customer’s hair and the extensions applied.
To realize a complete extension (medium thickness) you’ll need about 100 /120 grams of hair which correspond to 120/150 strands.
If a client has a lot of hair or has very short hair you’ll need 140/160 grams of hair and in certain cases you may need to apply even 250 strands.
In this case adhesive extensions are recommended because, thanks to their structure, fill most of space.
To get a better finish, we recommend match them with Evolution Tape Extensions.
We recommend pre-bonded extensions in case of very thin hair or thinning.
Managing the keratin shape you can obtain very small and imperceptible anchors.
Choose the extensions colour:
It is always better not to dye the extensions. The hair extensions has already suffered several bleaching treatments and re-staining to reach all the colour shades. Further dyeing could damage the hair structure losing its light and brilliance.
Therefore, the customer has to be informed and guided. The extensions colour has to be pretty similar to the customer natural hair colour. It will be better to dye the client’s hair to get closer to the locks colour.
In exceptional cases we recommend to dye the extensions only from light to dark.
Before applying:
• The hair have to be clean, washed with shampoo (do not apply conditioner).
• Dry perfectly, we recommend to straighten them and watch its natural falling.
• If necessary, thin out the hair. This step is not necessary if the hair is already marched.
• We suggest to cut keratin a few millimetres (horizontally) in order to reduce the quantity to be applied and make it imperceptible.
Application:
• The distance between the strand and the customer skin has to be of about 1.5 cm.
• It is necessary to work perpendicularly to the hair growth direction to avoid a traction problems.
• Create a not too thin hair section to avoid to “stress” your hair, but also not too thick. The customer hair section has to be thicker than the applied strand.
• Insert the extension lock of under the customer hair .
• Melt the keratin with the machine (temperature of 150°C)
• Close it by folding it like a wallet with your fingers.
• Press and fold a second time in the opposite direction.
• Keratin should be well shaped to make the anchoring flat and thin.
A secret to get a more natural look is to cut vertically the keratin in 2 parts obtaining imperceptible micro-strands.
Haircut after applying:
The haircut is important to combine the customer hair with the extensions, obtaining a more natural look.
The best technique is to practice an hair slide cut with scissors on dry hair.
When the quantity of the applied strands is correct (right amount: neither few nor too many), the work to be performed will be minimal.
When the client is standing, observe the applied extensions from each side and see where you need to “connect” the client’s hair to extensions.
With the hair dry is easier to see where the gap is more pronounced.
Lift the customer hair, identify the points and pass the scissors gently slipped until the detachment will disappear.
The final result will be a super-natural look !
NB: Remember…. It’s a beautiful extension only if it’s unnoticeable!!!
Removal:
To remove the strands is sufficient to spray a few drop of the specific solvent on the application point.
Press with the special plier so that the solvent can penetrate more easily and crumble the keratin.
Use a fine-toothed comb to remove the lock and to remove any keratin residue.
Then proceed with the cleaning.
