The application of keratin extensions is a refined art, one which requires a high degree of skill throughout all phases of the extension service, including the initial consultancy, after-care, and removal of the extensions at the end of their lifespan.
We believe that a quality product, such as our cuticle-intact keratin extensions in Remy hair, should be accompanied by an application process of the same high quality, the only way to achieve perfect extensions and a final result which meets the customer’s expectations. For this reason, we are constantly investing in our own training and in that of the salons which work with us.
Keratin extensions are ideal for lengthening an entire head of hair, creating color effects, thickening thin hair, or creating fringes and side fringes.
Keratin extensions are manufactured using Remy hair, where the hair structure and its cuticles have been kept intact.
Hair processed in this way has a more natural effect, being softer, shinier and easier to brush and manage.
Bearing the “Best Quality Cuticle Remy Hair” quality seal, and guaranteed six months from the date of purchase, Fair Fashion keratin extensions give an ultra-flat bond which respects the nature of the hair, and blends with the customer’s own haircut.
The bond is almost invisible, but highly resistant to all kinds of stress, such as shampoos; styling products; hair dryers and straightening irons; salt- and chlorinated water, and so on.
A complete range of over 40 colors is available in 4 lengths:
- 30/35cm
- 40/45cm
- 50/55cm
- 60/65cm
and in a single length in curly hair 50/55cm.

Even curly hair maintains its original structure and intact cuticles, allowing it to keep its shine even months after application.
The extensions retain their curl even after many washes, especially in the mid-and dark colors.
In the lighter colors, a slightly more delicate perming process is used, to leave the hair structure intact.
The extensions are colored using a slow and delicate process, which protects the cuticle and lifespan.
APPLICATION
A perfect result means finding the right balance between the customer’s natural length and the length of the hair applied.
Applying extensions measuring 50-60 cm to hair that is just 10 cm long, for example, is not recommended: use of shorter extensions gives a much more balanced result.
For example, if the customer’s hair is:
10/15cm long – apply extensions measuring 30/35cm or 40/45cm
20/25cm long – apply extensions measuring 40/45cm or 50/55cm
30/35cm long – apply extensions measuring 50/55cm or 60/65cm
It is the stylist’s job to create the right balance between the quantity of hair the customer has, and the quantity of hair applied. To achieve a complete coverage of average thickness using extensions requires between 100 and 120 grams of hair.
Each of our extensions in keratin (length 50/55 cm) contains 0.8 grams of hair: an average head will therefore require between 120 and 150 extensions.
If a customer has very thick or particularly short hair, a weight of 140 to 160 grams of hair may be necessary.
Up to 250 extensions may be required in extreme cases.
COLORING THE EXTENSIONS
As far as color is concerned, it is always best to avoid dyeing extensions. Since the hair used in extensions has already undergone a number of decoloring and coloring treatments to achieve the different shades, further treatments may damage the hair, causing it to become dull and brittle.
It is important, therefore, to provide the customer with all the necessary information, and to advise on colors that are reasonably close to their own natural shade. It is preferable to dye the customer’s own hair to bring it closer to the shade of the extensions to be applied, but if the customer still wishes to dye the extensions, we advise opting for shades which are darker than the current shade, modifying the color only slightly. Decoloring should be avoided.
THE IMPORTANCE OF TRAINING
It is inadvisable to attempt applying hair extensions – especially those with keratin bonds – without prior training. Application of these extensions requires precision to avoid any possible problems afterwards.
