DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE EXTENSIONS. HOW TO APPLY… HOW TO REMOVE (AND RE-USE).
Many hairstylist already use them, and recently they are becoming even more request than pre bonded keratin extensions. What kind of extensions we are talking about? Of course about double-sided tape extensions. Starting from 2005-2006, this kind of extension has captured a substantial market share, especially for its convenience and versatility.
Why? First because they are re-usable. This is very important for you and your customer.
CUSTOMER BENEFITS:
Using hair for many months allow the customer to write off the initial expense (hair and application) . With a proper care the extensions can last 12-18 months .
N.B: Obviously must be high quality remy hair with intact cuticles .
Without cuticles hair can prematurely dry out and be unusable after a short time.
HAIR SALON BENEFITS:
The customer, thanks to your application and your haircut, will come back to your salon to remove and reapply the lengths.
During these phase, you can offer other services not necessarily related to extensions, such as haircutting or dyeing.

The double-sided tape extensions have the additional advantage of being quick to apply, without taking precious time away from the various tasks performed every day in hair salons. More time for you and your salon also means higher profits. This method also does not require any type of equipment. Just some manual skills!
Let’s find out the correct procedure to apply, remove and re-apply the double-sided tape extensions.
BEFORE APPLICATION:
Before applying Tape extensions the hair have to be clean, washed with shampoo (do not apply conditioner).We recommend to straighten them and watch its natural falling.
N.B: The hair have to be dry perfectly. Do not apply the extensions on damp hair.
APPLICATION
HOW TO REMOVE AND REAPPLY THE DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE.
After about 2-3 months (this clearly depends on the hair regrowth) the double-sided tape extensions have to be removed and accurately replaced.
In this period your customers hair will grow back, therefore is appropriate to replace the extensions in their optimal position .
We will also change the adhesive but first let’s read carefully the section below .
BEFORE STARTING:
It’s important to create a kind of outline to remember in which position each strand was before the removal. We use a non-stick paper on which we draw the head outline.
We’ll temporarily put the lengths on the paper in the same position in which they originally were.
In this way we’ll know exactly where replace the locks, keeping the previous result ( thanks also to an excellent and designed haircut).
HOW TO REMOVE DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE EXTENSIONS
Removal is quite easy!
To remove the Tape Extensions, use a few drops of remover between the two strands applied.
Do not pull! remove gently with the help of some remover drops.
Now is possible to wash the customer hair (without using the conditioner, you can re-apply the lengths after 24 hours).
NEW DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE APPLICATION
Once removed the locks from your customer hair is important to “clean them up ” by removing what remains.
You have to rub it with your fingers and remove the glue residue.
Dry well the lock with a hair dryer and then apply on clean strand a new double-sided tape.
The Extension Tape replacement adhesives are of the same size of the Tape Extension lock.
TAPE EXTENSION RE-APPLICATION
it is imperative arrange the extensions in the same place in which they were applied. Why? Let’s explain with an example.
If the first applications row, placed in the lower part of the head , is re-applied in the upper part, the results will be totally different since the haircut would be more layered
This row of applications is the “tip ” of our extension and probably has been cut more than the other.
Then all pairs of strands will replaced to the original point.
Obviously for the re-application you can follow the paragraph ” Application ” .
How often this process is needed?
Depends on the customer hair growth.
For example if your client has a fast regrowth, you may need to remove and reapply the double sided tape extensions more frequently, like every two months, in other cases it will be enough to do it every 3 or even 4 months.
We suggest to do not apply the locks too far from the root, so when the customer regrowth will be of 4/5cm, replace the tape.
The distance between the strand and the scalp must be 1,5 cm.
With a hair proper care and maintenance the lengths will be soft and easy to comb for several months . This is because we use high quality, remy hair with intact cuticles .
